I was watching the France - Serbia tie today (tape-delayed and with some bits cut out but beggars cannot be choosers), with the primarily objective to see what Novak's game looks like after '07 late-season disaster. The movement was okay, apparently, but that's about all that I could tell considering that there was a) exhibition and b) Clement on the other side of the net. Not to knock Arnaud, but he's not the type of contender Nole could measure his game against.
So, I relaxed and watched the mixed doubles match just for pleasure, and what a blast it was. Everyone playful and happy, and Novak and Jelena (I learned accidentially, during that match, that her name is pronounced like JElena, with the first syllable stressed) were an absolute hoot together. Nole's ability to engage and communicate the crowd is really something.

As it is, I'm going tonight, but to Russia, to my mom's. I promised her for ages to visit her for Christmas, and this time I'm making good on my promise. I'll be back in time for the Australian Open.
