Hello world.

Dear gods of in and out, thank you that Rog won USO. Had it real easy too, apparently (I went to sleep mid - 2nd set, as was unable to keep my eyes open one second anymore). In the 1st set he was FedGod, in the second barely scrapping along - what happened in the third? Did Fed up his level again, or did Murray go unglued?

Other random stuff: was mildly shocked today by intricacies of modern family relations. In the set of documents handed to me, there was a permit for a child to travel abroad. And both the child's parents who signed it, are female. I blink and get on the phone cause wtf., and the chief editor says don't fret, it's all explained in the documents. Turned out the girl's dad got himself a transgender surgery and is now officially a woman. Wow.

I dreamt of Rafa Nadal today - he was visiting my parents' old home which is now sold and under reconstruction. He was in his red Nike outit and piratas, but it was late fall outside, so we came to the kitchen and were sitting there drinking tea with mom. It was a good dream if a little sad, without any, y'know dream-like bizarre happenings, completely normal except Rafa in mom's kitchen of course.

I tried to dabble a little in on-line Batman/Nolanverse fandom over the weekend. Egads - you really don't want to fuck the Joker, girl. Leaving the sociopatic mass-murderer angle aside, do you have any idea when he last brushed his teeth? Or washed any part of his body for that matter? I thought so.

(And by the way, Batman also doesn't want to fuck the Joker. Jeebus. Reminded me painfully why I left the LotR fandom for good.)

Ah, summer is getting washed away right before my eyes. Back to work now.

I've long ago pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'm never gonna "get" Harry Potter. I know this is probably a flaw in me and not in the books, because these books have enormous following and all these people must've seen something that I missed. And many of those people are adult, mature, intelligent, educated people, who'd probably undertood something that I didn't. I know all that, and I still think that HP books are not worth the time spent on reading them, much less the time spent obsessing over them on the Internets. They're not a total waste - the first two (possibly three) are competent, somewhat imaginative children's books. After PoA, they just suck.

That's all beside the point however. The upside of having such a huge fandom is that it frequently churns out pieces that are better (significantly so) than the original books. I'm not involved in HP fandom at all, but a few of my favourite pieces of fanfiction are HP-based. And I apologize, because it's 3-year old news, but I've just accidentially dug up the most hilarious shit that I've seen on Internet since ages, and it's HP-related, although it's not fanfiction.

Having written recently about how I freaking love A Song Of Ice And Fire by George R R Martin and how I'wish more people just stopped diddling around and read it already, I later remembered of a folder on my hard drive where I saved all the artwork for this series. Well, not all the artwork, just pieces that I liked very much. I have plenty of those. And I thouhgt that if beautiful pictures won't convince you to read this awesome, awesome series, then probably nothing will. Just look.


In other news, our neibour's teenage daugnter slapped all the walls in the stairwell leading to our apartment with posters of Avril Lavigne. Gawd.

First, the cover art for A Dance with Dragons has been released. Hopefully, this means that the release of the actual goddamned BOOK is near enough.

(and for those on my f-list that haven't the slightest what I'm talking about, I'm begging you to go and read The Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin. Pretty please.)

Second, the Variety reports that the 4th "Bourne" movie has been agreed upon by Universal, and Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon were enlisted. Now if only they could get Tony Gilroy on board, I'd be a very happy customer indeed.
