Wow. I've been out of the loop all right.

Apparently Sean Bean signed up to play Ned Stark in HBO's pilot of A Song Of Ice And Fire. That will take some time to squee over properly! I mean yeah, Bean's maybe a few centimeters too tall and a few years too old for canonical Ned, but he's a very good actor and there's no doubt that he'll nail the character. That's all I'm asking. Plus as I understand, landing such a big name on the cast improves the chances of the show being greenlighted considerably.

The only downside is that he'll have to die on stage. Again.

Upd. *searches the internets some more* Many other characters were cast as well, but I've not seen any of the actors, so can't comment. The Bean info pleases me though. It pleases me very much indeed.

HBO has given a pilot order to fantasy project "Game of Thrones."

The program is based on George R.R. Martin’s bestselling series of novels "A Song of Fire & Ice" and executive produced by David Benioff ("Troy") and D.B. Weiss ("Halo"). The title “Game of Thrones” is from the first novel in the series.

If greenlit, “Thrones” would represent the rarest of TV genres: a full-fledged fantasy epic.

Having written recently about how I freaking love A Song Of Ice And Fire by George R R Martin and how I'wish more people just stopped diddling around and read it already, I later remembered of a folder on my hard drive where I saved all the artwork for this series. Well, not all the artwork, just pieces that I liked very much. I have plenty of those. And I thouhgt that if beautiful pictures won't convince you to read this awesome, awesome series, then probably nothing will. Just look.


In other news, our neibour's teenage daugnter slapped all the walls in the stairwell leading to our apartment with posters of Avril Lavigne. Gawd.

First, the cover art for A Dance with Dragons has been released. Hopefully, this means that the release of the actual goddamned BOOK is near enough.

(and for those on my f-list that haven't the slightest what I'm talking about, I'm begging you to go and read The Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin. Pretty please.)

Second, the Variety reports that the 4th "Bourne" movie has been agreed upon by Universal, and Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon were enlisted. Now if only they could get Tony Gilroy on board, I'd be a very happy customer indeed.
