So, we are near the business end of the event, and surprises become few and far between. Of all the today's matches, there was only one upset: Radwanska-Petrova. And even that wasn't much of an upset, consideting that it's Nadia Petrova we're talking about (I'm not saying that as a compliment).

After gigantic battles of yeasterday, today's matches had freaking large shoes to fill, and unfortunately, they largely failed. That was for the good as I, for one, managed to catch a few extra hours of sleep. The coutrs were still red-hot, but the players seemed lethargic (at least half of them), almost as if yesterday they watched tennis themselves into  the wee hours of morning. Still the matches went on, and seeds were falling aplenty.

Wow. Whew. When thinking of today's worth of tennis, all that comes to mind, are exclamations and expletives. We left to visit the in-laws after the Fed's match ended, and when we came back, Hewitt and Baghdatis were still playing. Damn. They finished their match about 5 am local time - has that ever happened in a slam? Several of today's matches deserve their own posts, but my thoughts are running like cockroaches in every each direction, and I still have work to do, so I'll try to be brief.

17th-Jan-2008 08:35 pm - Getting emotional...
marat not amused
I didn't see much today, because I had to work like hell to be able to watch Marat - Marcos, which was scheduled to start about noon my time. So, I cant write a dayly recap, and wouldn't even if I could because I'm still wound up and emotionally spent after watching that wowser. Finally, a night's match that lived up to its hype, end especially for me was full of unbeliveable drama and tension. So, what follows is just an emotional reaction, without any pretense.
